About The Show & Your Host

Hi everyone! My name is Josh Corbett and I’m the host of Countdown To Classic.  I’m a podcast vet and I also co-host a comedic movie podcast, The Sinner Files (sinnerfiles.com).

I’m a 36 year old Australian who spends his days working full time as a criminal trial attorney, and am an avid World of Warcraft fan.  I played the game from 2006-2011, tapping out a short while after the release of Cataclysm.

Since the announcement of World Of Warcraft: Classic in November of 2017, my reinvigorated interest in returning to Azeroth has seen me, along with many vanilla WoW fans, checking the news every day for just a the tiniest morsel of news or updates relating to what is now an incredibly highly anticipated game.

However, a shortage in news, podcasts or videos relating to World of Warcraft: Classic pushed me to create this show.  The show comes out mid week, every week and speaks to you, the players of vanilla World of Warcraft, mining your expertise, analysis and memories from the game that we all know and love.

The show has picked up such an amazing following since it began in February 2018, and I love chatting with the fans in the show’s Discord, and am always touched to see more and more people getting on board the Countdown hype train.

So thanks for being here, and I hope you enjoy the show.

– Josh.

  1. Hi Josh,

Love the podcast. I’m not a die hard WoW player, more casual but the podcast is filling me with nostalgia and excitement and I can’t wait for the return of classic!

I heard you say in episode 2 that you would try to give shout outs or something like that. I’m trying to get my girlfriend Laura to dabble in the world of warcraft. Would a kind of joking mention like this be possible?

Looking forward to the next episode!

    Kind regards,

  2. Hello Josh.

Shout out from a big fan from Denmark!
Absolutely love your podcast, especially the fact that you stay neutral(no changes!!) in all the topics you talk about – I’ve followed Alexensual abit, but kinda got tired of all his “No changes rage”, so cheers for that! – Keep up the great work.

    P.s.. no changes!

  3. Hi Josh!

Just discovered your podcast, and absolutely stoked that you’re actually still going strong. I love all the different people that you interview, and as I myself come from Nostalrius/Elysium, I know of all the people that you interviewed!

I was so hyped after listening to a few of your episodes that I tried explaining it to a friend and said: I found this amazing podcast where they interview “celebrities” that are only celebrities to like 100-200k people in the world. I’m so happy this podcast excists for such a niche community.

Thank you for your work and keep ‘m coming!

    1. Hi Seb,

Thanks so much for listening and I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying the show. It’s so nice to hear from listeners saying hi, I really appreciate it and thanks so much as well for talking about the show with friends! I’ll be sure to keep the episodes coming, and look forward to bringing you more and more. Please feel free to join the show’s Discord too if you’d like to chat with us all daily about WoW! 🙂

  4. Hey Josh,

I have a question about mage aoe grinding. When you’re doing this, how do you get gear if you’re generally not questing and doing instances? Do you just have to buy gear off the auction house?

    1. Hi Binh, the best advice I could give you would be to seek advice from some of the mage experts over at the Countdown To Classic Discord, they are more than happy to help with many enquiries like this 🙂

  5. Josh,

I finally entered the world of podcasts and WOW was of course the first thing I looked for. I found your podcast and have been a listener ever since. Now I compare all podcasts to yours and always end up getting disappointed! Nobody tops the energy, enthusiasm, and love you put into each episode. They are definitely your calling.

On another note, You being Aussie and all. You never speak of the spiders lol! You should do a short segment about them!

Have a great day and enjoy Blizzcon!

    1. Bill,

Thank you so much for the kind words and for listening to the show. I really do appreciate it when people reach out just to let me know you’re out there and enjoying the show. I shall do my best to mention the wildlife of Australia at some point haha! Thanks again.

  6. Love your podcast, man! I’ve been checking back almost hourly to see if the latest one is out (87), can’t say I’ve done that with much of anything before. You’re phenomenal at facilitating discussion, and your guest choices are really enjoyable to listen to. You all sound like the type of people I used to raid with, so the podcast has a good touch of familiarity. Can’t wait for the next episode, and I sincerely hope the release of classic only brings more content to the podcast!

    1. Hi RDK Lifting,

Thanks so much for the kind words and for listening to the show. I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying it and that it has struck quite the chord with you! The new episode will be out very early Friday morning EST – look forward to getting it to you! 🙂

  7. Hello! Love your podcast and fascinating interviews, especially about the classes with ex-devs and “pro”-player of the classes. Everything is actually interesting since I didnt begin my journey in WoW until feb 2008 in late TBC. Sure some of the features of Vanilla was still in there at that time. My question is, what song/tune is the end music that you’re playing in the end of the shows. Love it with its bombastic drums and mighty feel.

    1. Hi Konphewzd,

Thanks so much for listening and for the kind words! I’m so glad to hear the show’s ending theme sings out to you, it’s my favourite too! Unfortunately it is stock music from Pond5.com, not something that can just be looked up on YouTube. If you’d like a listen to the raw track then PM me on Discord 🙂
