  1. Great episode! On add-ons, I have to say that I’m not a fan of DBM. I don’t think add-ons should ever be required. If a mod becomes required, it either gives too much of an advantage, or it’s something that needs to be integrated into the game. That’s less of a jab at MysticalOS and more at the World of Warcraft Dev team. You should never design your original content around a mod – it’s supposed to go the other way. Honestly, the fact that they knowingly do it baffles me as a software engineer. Overall my displeasure with DBM comes with the fact that it strips elements away from the fight. You don’t have to watch out for the graphical effects, even if they’re there, because you can just have a raid warning set up. There are a lot of fights where I can just close my eyes and listen for raid warnings while spamming my usual rotation. It makes a progressively more simple game even more simple.

The accessibility argument is nice, but there are games I struggle to play because of my own health prbolems, and I don’t see why they should handicap other players or dumb down the game play just to make high end play accessible to me. I can still enjoy my experience on the bottom rung, and if I want to be good, I’ll play the genres that work for me.

Don’t get me wrong – at the end of the day MysticalOS seems like a great guy and I really respect the time and effort he’s put into his mod, the game, and how engaged he is with the community. He deserves all of the praise (and donations) he gets.
